The two politicians will be meeting at Hacienda Temozon, which is number one on my list of Mexico’s historic hotels. This isn’t the first time a U.S. president has visited the beautiful historic sisal plantation that has been converted into a luxury hotel. President Bill Clinton met with Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo there in 1999. Also on President Bush’s itinerary is a visit to the Mayan archaeological site of Uxmal. Though some are put off by Mexico City’s reputation for traffic and crime, it is a destination with incredibly diverse and enticing attractions. You’ll find world-class museums and art galleries, upscale shops and restaurants, as well as plenty of bargain options. The city also offers a multitude of cultural events year-round. Word is he’s hoping to hold a shoot at the pyramids of Teotihuacan, outside Mexico City. Whether or not the INAH (Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History) will allow him to photograph his nude installation at the ancient site remains to be seen. If not, a possible alternative would be Mexico City’s Zocalo.
